TRE® Therapy

A Body-Based Approach to Releasing Stress & Trauma

What is TRE®?

TRE®️ (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises), developed by Dr. David Berceli, is a simple, natural method that activates the body’s built-in tremor mechanism to release accumulated stress and physical tension patterns held in the body.

Unlike talk therapy, TRE®️ works directly with the nervous system. Through a series of gentle exercises, it allows the body to discharge tension, often without needing to verbally revisit past experiences.

TRE®️ may support nervous system regulation, reduce chronic tension, and improve sleep for some individuals. It is a body-based stress regulation practice and is not a substitute for medical, psychiatric, or psychological diagnosis or treatment. Where appropriate, TRE®️ can be integrated alongside other therapeutic interventions as part of a holistic support plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to talk about my trauma during TRE®?
Not at all. TRE® is a non-verbal process. Your body leads the way, and there’s no pressure to share or explain anything.
Absolutely. TRE® works well alongside talk therapy, bodywork, and other healing practices. It’s often the missing link for those who’ve “talked about it” but still feel trauma held in the body.
Comfortable clothing. Similar to what you’d wear for pilates or stretching. You’ll be lying on a mat and doing gentle movements.
Yes. Once you’ve learned the exercises and understand how your body responds, you can practice TRE® independently. I’ll guide you through this process safely.
